Vintage Makeup

Vintage makeup is a great look to achieve and what’s even better is that many beautiful eye makeup types from the past have come back! You’ll never go wrong with looking like your vintage Hollywood idols.

Popular Vintage Eye Makeup styles include those from the 1920’s up to the 1990’s.

1920’s

Line both your bottom and top eye lids with a black thick liner. Then, cover the entire eyelid with a shadow in green, turquoise or dark grey.

1930’s

During this era, the deep-set eye look was popular. With the 1930’s look, use a dark eye shadow together with the crease of the upper eyelid. Then, apply green, blue or violet shade, false eyelashes or mascara and a medium black liner.

1950’s and 1960’s

Apply a liquid eye liner in a bold, thick line across your top eye lid. Also apply 2 coats of mascara to achieve that simple 1950’s eye.

Another popular makeup style during this period was the cat eye makeup look with a turquoise, blue or grey eye shadow and a winged liner.

1970’s

During this decade, bare and natural eyes were the trend. If you want to sport a 1970’s vintage makeup, don’t get darker eyes. Try to use light pastel eye shadows, silvery or pale blue liner and a light mascara.

1980’s

Punk and goth styles with exaggerated and heavy eye makeup became popular during this time. Aside from this, lots of colored mascara and blue eye shadow were common, and became the basic makeup style.

1990’s

While the 1980’s gave us overdone looks, the 1990’s paved the way for more subdued makeup. Makeup was more natural then but dramatic makeup style was still never gone.

There are simply many makeup styles to choose from especially from years past. But what’s most important is for you to wear it with utmost confidence. Don’t fear trying a different look. Practice applying makeup for you might someday find that signature style of yours that brings out the best in your beauty.
